Review & eBook giveaway Pyxis (The Discovery) by K.C. Neal

E-copy provided by the author for review

Two worlds.... One 16-year-old girl must learn to protect them both. The nightmares haunting Corinne and her friend Mason hint at a universe that exists beyond the one they know. Her destiny is to protect a weakness between the two worlds, but the person who was supposed to teach her how is dead. As Corinne and Mason search for answers, she tries to ignore the sparks igniting between them, but can't deny she feels safe only when he's nearby. Will they find help before their nightmares break free?

My Review

This book is awesome!! Really! Right from the beginning you are sucked in. First off, I love baked goods, so how could I not be instantly in love when it starts off with a bake sale. Then she brings out a little humor right away too. The characters are so fun to read, and really get to know. The book moves along at a perfect pace, making you need to keep reading because you need to know what happens next. I am generally not a very fast reader, but I couldn't put it down and read it in one day.

Corrine is a fun character. She's funny and smart. Like a typical 16 year old girl, she doesn't always make rational decisions, but it makes it easy to relate to her. She goes to the normal hangouts that all the other teenagers go to, has a job after school, has a great best friend, and of course, boy problems. I do wish that we got to know her best friend Angeline, just a little better. She was a bit occupied with other things in this book, so we don't get a whole lot of her, but I am sure that in future books we will get to know her much better. I like how she was doing normal everyday things though. It makes it seem realistic, where some books take too much of reality away. Then there is Mason. Mason and Corrine have been friends forever. He has been away on a trip, and he returns shortly after weird things begin to happen. He is very charming, and friendly, and I couldn't help but like him. He also happens to be super crush worthy.

Corrine finds that she has a box that is the Pyxis, but she doesn't know what it is, or what to do with it. She needs help and tells Mason about it. Corrine and Mason discover they are having the same dreams, (or nightmares really) and they are part of these strange things that are happening. They just don't know how they are part of it, or what to do. Corrine tries to fight the feeling of wanting to be with him, but as they work together to find the answers they need, they start to realize they need each other. Mason feels like he needs to keep her safe, and she feels safe with him. What they discover is beyond what they ever could have imagined and they know only they can stop it.

I still can't get this book out of my head. It is such a cool and interesting story, and I am just almost speechless. I know that this is a book that I will go back and read again. I am very much looking forward to the next book in this series. This one was so amazing and left you just staring at the last page thinking "Oh my goodness, you are ending it like that?!!!" It's a good thing though. I love good cliffhanger endings. I know I am going to go insane waiting for the next one. This book is a must read! I give it 5 out of 5 stars for sure.

I am honored to be part of the blog tour for this book. As part of the blog tour I am hosting a giveaway for an ebook copy of Pyxis.
