I am thrilled to be taking part in this tour for On the Island by Tracy Garvis Graves. I was on the tour for it back in March and I loved the book. You can see my 5 star review here. Today I have T.J. answering a question about how his like may have been different had he not been stranded on the island . There is also a tour wide giveaway. You will find the rafflecopter at the end of this post. For the full tour schedule click on the banner above.

Book description:
When thirty-year-old English teacher Anna Emerson is offered a job tutoring T.J. Callahan at his family's summer rental in the Maldives, she accepts without hesitation; a working vacation on a tropical island trumps the library any day.
T.J. Callahan has no desire to leave town, not that anyone asked him. He's almost seventeen and if having cancer wasn't bad enough, now he has to spend his first summer in remission with his family - and a stack of overdue assignments - instead of his friends.
Anna and T.J. are en route to join T.J.'s family in the Maldives when the pilot of their seaplane suffers a fatal heart attack and crash-lands in the Indian Ocean. Adrift in shark-infested waters, their life jackets keep them afloat until they make it to the shore of an uninhabited island. Now Anna and T.J. just want to survive and they must work together to obtain water, food, fire, and shelter. Their basic needs might be met but as the days turn to weeks, and then months, the castaways encounter plenty of other obstacles, including violent tropical storms, the many dangers lurking in the sea, and the possibility that T.J.'s cancer could return. As T.J. celebrates yet another birthday on the island, Anna begins to wonder if the biggest challenge of all might be living with a boy who is gradually becoming a man.
Question to T.J.: You basically grew up and became a man while on the island not to mention the cancer beforehand. What do you think may be different about your character/personality had you not been stranded and lived the life you did?
TJ: I might have taken things for granted. Even though I’m a cancer survivor and grateful for my health, I don’t think my will to live would have been as strong at home as it was on the island.

Awww, I love that TJ. I'm so excited to see On the Island receive the attention it deserves.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
I know!! Just taking part in this tour makes me want to read it again.
DeleteOh this guy is yummy! I've been seeing really great reviews for this one I'm super interested in it it sounds so good! At first from the cover I thought it was just a romance which I don't really have interest in so I'm glad I read a few review (I could read the synopsis too I guess but... nah! haha)
ReplyDeleteI think you would love this!! It really is a fantastic book.
DeleteI keep hearing excellent things about this book, but I'm still not sure if I would like to read it or not. To be honest, the age gap and the fact that Anna is T.J's tutor would make me uncomfortable. I know it's narrow-minded on my part to think so, but I've never come across books with such age gaps. :/
ReplyDeleteMaybe, I'll read it when I'm a little older and wiser ! :)
I'm very interested in the cancer survivor aspect though. It's very intriguing.
If you are uncomfortable with the subject matter it's tough, but honestly there is nothing in this book that is inappropriate. Maybe some day you will get to it. I was a little put off at first, but so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone.
DeleteGreat pic for TJ. Thinking I really should read this one.
ReplyDeleteValerie

DeleteYUM! Taylor Kitsch! Love him, I just finished On The Island yesterday and I loved it so very much! T.J. was suck a sweetheart and I loved that even though he was so much younger than Anna, once they were stranded he wasn't someone she had to take care of, he was a partner through and through!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite books. I think it was so beautiful.
