Week 2 of the Sweet Evil Read-Along and yes, I am still keeping up. This week we read chapter 10 through 16. I still don't really like Kaidan all that much even though most people totally love him. He is definitely growing on me a bit more, but he still has a lot to prove before I get all swoony over him. He's a total man whore. And arrogant. Anyways... this week the theme is a pear or citrus recipe which, if you have read the book or seen the quotes on some of the week 2 posts, you will understand.
Pear and Citrus Inspired Meal
Lets start with drinks. I have both alcohol and non-alcohol drinks to please everyone.
Click on the pictures to be brought to the website the image and recipe were taken from
Asian Pear Sparkler
Tuscan Pear Cocktail
Prickly Pear Margarita
Moving onto a salad to start the meal
Coconut Lime Chicken Salad with Snow Peas
Main course time!!
North African Spiced Turkey with Avocado-Grapefruit Relish
And finally, desert!! Yum!
Key Lime Pie
And yes, I totally did separate lime and pear deserts as a nod to both Kaidan and Anna.
Now onto my thoughts of chapters 10-16
Okay so I am still not a big Kaidan fan, as you are aware if you read the first paragraph of this post. I just think he is a total tool. Manipulative, arrogant, man whore. Yup, that's right!! He tells Anna he will respect her, but he keeps doing little things that get her all flustered. He does start to chill a bit and open up a little, he even helps Anna learn to control her emotions a little, but I still am not totally warmed up to him. The breakfast scene that happens after the lime and pear situation is quite entertaining. I also enjoyed how they were able to relax a little with each other and have some laughs on the last leg of their road trip to L.A.
I am hoping that I will start to like Kaidan a little more since I feel like I am one of the only ones who doesn't. It seems like everyone is already totally swooning over him by this point in the book and I just don't get it. Yes, he can be tempting and sexy, but he has major personality flaws. I don't really care how he was raised and whatever. Do I feel bad for him? Absolutely. Do I think he should be a love interest. Not in the least. Just because I think his situation is pretty sucky doesn't mean I think he is worthy of Anna. Maybe I should stop over thinking things so much and just go with it. I bet I would like him more if I ignored that nagging in the back of my head.
I am really loving the story so far though. I think the road trip was fantastic and I can't wait to see what things they discover in L.A., or what types of trouble they are probably bound to get into. Don't forget to check out the tour hosts week 2 posts and the other people doing the read-along. Stop by next week for week 3: Truth or Dare!!
