Waiting on Wednesday 1-16-13

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine  to share what book you are highly anticipating the release of.

This week my Waiting on Wednesday pick is A Midsummer Night's Scream by R.L Stine. It sounds awesome!!

  • Publisher: Feiwel & Friends
  • Publication date: 7/2/2013

(Synopsis taken from the catalog on Macmillan website)

It was a horror movie that turned into real horror--three
young actors lost their lives while the camera rolled.
Production stopped, and people claimed that the movie
was cursed.
Sixty years later, new actors are venturing into the
haunted set. In a desperate attempt to revive their failing
studio, Claire's dad has green-lit a remake of Mayhem
Manor—and Claire and her friends are dying to be
involved.
At first, Claire laughs at Jake’s talk of ghosts and curses.
He’s been too busy crushing on her best friend Delia or
making out with that slut Annalee to notice that she’s
practically been throwing herself at him. What does he
know? And anyway, this is her big chance to be a star!
When shooting starts, though, the set is plagued by a
series of horrible accidents—could history be repeating
itself?

So Dude! I loved Goosebumps as a kid. R.L. Stine is fantastic. This sounds so freaking good!! I am totally pining for it.What are you waiting on?

  1. I was a huge Goosebumps book fan! I was actually just talking to my friend about our favorites from back in the day and the television show. I still haven't read his other YA book but I want to and this one as well.

  6. OMG it's R.L Stine! I read the blurb (yes I ACTUALLY read the blurb) after seeing the cover and was all over it and then you mentioned R.L. Stine and I got even more excited but a bit scared. Red Rain got some terrible reviews and I can't help but wonder if he lost his mojo. I'll be giving this one a go to see, Great pick!

  7. Ooh dude! This sounds so cool! R.L. Stine! Hells Yeah! Though I did read a review of one of his YA or adult book (I think it was Christina's) and she was saying he wasn't that great when it wasn't a kid's book. But I'M totally going to give this one a try!!

  12. Wow, talk about a flashback! I loved Goosebump books, especially the ones with the shiny covers and the pick your own ending ones. I didn’t know he had a YA book. Love the concept, love the name of the book but the cover reminds me of that book that shall not be named…

  13. Oh wow, a new RL Stine book! I didn't really care for him as a kid, but I still read a bunch (you read what you can get your hands on when you live in a small town with a tiny library). I don't think this would be my thing since I don't like scary books, but it's great he's coming out with new stuff!

  15. I read RL Stine until my kids got tired of hearing my voice, and started reading on their own (it was a great way to encourage kids to read, I should go into preschools). He was king of the unsettled ending.
