Blog Tour: Just Breathe by Kendall Grey Review, Vlog, Character Interview , & Giveaway!

I can't even tell you how excited I am to be taking part in this tour!! I have loved each of the books in this series so much and I absolutely adore Kendall!! Not only is she a fantastic writer, but an amazing person as well. It has been such an awesome experience getting to know her and helping spread the word about her awesome books and the great cause that the profits from sales go to!!

Before I get totally emotional and stuff, I will get on with this. I have some really great stuff for you on my stop. I had the great privilege of interviewing Zoe, and you will get to read that. I also have a fantastic vlog that Kendall did for me talking about the ups and downs of being an Elemental. And of course that's not all, besides my review too, there are not one, not two, but three giveaways to enter!! Yup! You heard me right. Two of them are tour wide, and one is just from my stop. For the full schedule click on the banner about to be taken to the Rumor Has It website.

He made a deal with the devil to save the woman he loves…

After tragedy rocks the foundation of their relationship, Australian Sentinel Gavin Cassidy and whale biologist Zoe Morgan call it quits. Gavin can’t forgive himself for shattering her trust, and being with the sexy rock star is killing Zoe. Literally.

But love—and duty—are powerful motivators, and alliances are forged in the most unlikely places. With the key to salvation locked inside the mind of an unconscious child, Gavin must find another way to snuff out the Fyre Elementals before millions of humans die, or make good on his deal with the devil and lose the one he loves. Again.

*This book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Not suitable for readers under the age of 18.

**The author will donate all profits from the sale of the JUST BREATHE trilogy to programs that educate people about whales and the challenges they face.

* This is the third book in the series, but my review is spoiler free for the series.

My Thoughts

Okay, I am going to try to do this as eloquently as I can. Who am I kidding? I am a total flailing Kendall Grey fan girl! I have loved this series so much since the first book, and my love has just grown with each installment. The world, the characters, the smexy! Everything! Kendall is fantastic at pulling you into this world and not letting you out. The visual imagery and the emotions of this series, and this book are just amazing! I can honestly say I have become fully invested in the story, and the characters feel like my friends. They don't feel like characters in the pages of a book. I feel for them, I ache for them, I want to know what they are doing. They feel real to me!! I am sad to let them go, but I loved how this book ended.

Zoe has always been an amazing character to me, but with all that she has been through and all that she is facing in this book, she really finds a place in my heart. She is so strong, but broken. Hurt and betrayed feeling, but still forgiving and trusting. And on top of all that, she is completely dedicated to her mission and no matter what will not let anything or anyone get in the way of completing it! What I love the most about her, is the realness of her personality. She is totally someone that I could relate to and someone I would love to be friends with. I admire her strength and her selflessness.

Gavin broke my heart in this one. He is so torn up over the events that happened and he is starting to spiral down into a dark place. I was so afraid he would let it take over him and he would lose himself, the caring and amazing Gavin that Zoe brings out. He makes a lot of really stupid decisions, but it's not really the choices he makes that are bad, it's the way he goes about it that is. He is shutting everyone out, but still trying to keep Zoe while not being totally straightforward with her. He is afraid of hurting her more, so he keeps her in the dark about some things instead of trusting that she would understand. It was tearing me apart to see how much it was all hurting him, but I also loved the inner strength he had because of how much he cares about Zoe.

I don't want to go into any details since this is spoiler free, but this book was just so amazing!! It made me feel EVERYTHING!! I mean it. I went from smiling like a goof, to tense beyond belief, to absolute rage (Yes, that is most definitely brought on by none other than Scarlet), to wanting to bawl my eyes out. The feels that I got from this book is only a small part of why I loved it so much though. This book has everything that is necessary for me to love a book. Humor, suspense, action, tension, romance, and most importantly, a fantastic ending that was satisfying and awesome!! I can't wait to see what else Kendall Grey has in store for us in the future, but whatever it is, I know it will be just as amazing as she is!

Character Interview with Zoe Morgan

Amy: For my stop on the tour I am honored to be interviewing Zoe. I would love to get a fun discussion going with her. I will start.

Zoe, dude you have been through a lot. Like wow, I would have had a freaking breakdown. How are you holding up? Oh and also, I would totally love to bitch slap Scarlett.

Zoe Morgan: Hi Amy! Thanks for your sympathy. *Laughs* I've definitely had some ups and downs these last few weeks, but I'm hanging in there. Gavin and I are...well, I shouldn't speak for him. Wouldn't know what to say anyway.

Scarlet holds the top position on my shit list for a whole lotta reasons. But I have a plan. If I have to implement it all by myself, I will. *Looks around for Gavin* Whatever it takes.

Byrn: *Sidles up to Zoe and "accidentally" brushes her ass* Hey, babe. You should never feel like you're alone in this world. Why not let good old Byrn take care of you? Gavin obviously done you wrong. One night with me, and you'll forget you ever met that dickhead.

Jet Hawthorne: Sorry to interrupt, ladies. *Grabs Byrn by the back of the shirt and drags him to the door* Don't mind Byrn. *Hussles him out*

Byrn: *Flails on the way out*

Andrea (The Bookish Babe): Zoe, when (not if) you and Gavin get this whole mess sorted out, and you could plan your perfect day, what would you do?

Zoe: Relaxation? What's that? *Laughs*

My perfect day would involve a boat, a bottle of wine, and a little Greek island. Can you imagine how great that would be? I've never been to Greece, but the pictures make me insanely jealous of the people who are lucky enough to live in such a beautiful place. That gorgeous blue water, the warm sun, the history... *Sighs* A day on the Mediterranean with whales and dolphins.

And having Gavin there would be...nice.

Andrea: That's absolutely perfect, Zoe. ;-)

Amy: That does sound nice! So things are obviously a bit complicated at the moment. What are your current plans? Business and relationship wise I guess.

Zoe: Complicated is a good word for it. My plan is to do what I was chosen to do: help the Wæters' Archelemental rise to her position. I think it's pretty clear who I'm talking about. I face a few challenges with her, but I'm determined to get this issue resolved. Wyldlings are dying, and now we're racing against another clock. The Archelementals from the four factions must submit their collected tithes to their gods on the equinox, which is September 23. We have three weeks to help the Wæters score enough of their Element to put the Australian Fyres out of business. It's not going to be easy, but it can be done.

As for the relationship? Though Gavin is very important to me, I can't sit around and cry about the past when people are being killed left and right. This is a matter of survival. With time, broken hearts will mend. But the dead don't have the luxury of time. It would be pretty damn selfish of me to put my heart before my head. I think Gavin understands that. At least, I hope he does. We can try to work out our issues when the Wyldlings are safe.

I'll be honest though. What happened hurts. A lot.

*Gavin Comes in. Overhears convo. Leaves with head hung low*

Amy: Well Zoe, if anyone can do it you can!! You are one tough chick and have been through a hell of a lot. I agree that the people are more important. I am sure that in the end you and Gavin will work through things. Of course it won't be easy, but I believe in you guys. I know that Gavin is really broken up over all of it too.

I know you have to help save the world and everything, but what be your idea of the best revenge on Scarlet? If you can't tell me, I totally understand, but I would love to know how you would want the crazy, psycho bitch put in her place. If you need assistance, just let me know. I'm here for you if you need me.

Zoe: God, I feel like Hannibal Lecter plotting my next victim's demise, but Scarlet deserves whatever she gets. She's hurt so many people.

A nice, slow drowning would be fitting, don't you think? Maybe with a side of fava beans and a nice chianti? ;-)

I loved doing this. It was so fun getting to interview Zoe and I loved that Byrn, Jet and Andrea from The Bookish Babe joined the discussion.

I also have a super fab vlog from Kendall where she talks about the Elementals!!

Kendall is super awesome!! I really enjoyed this vlog.

About the author

Kendall Grey, word wrangler, whale warrior, wicked wench, and lover of tongue-tripping alliteration, was born without an off-switch between her brain and mouth. She's been called the "Flux Capacitor of Twitter" (@kendallgrey1) and "A little package of love all wrapped up in F-word paper," but she's really just a maniacal writer relaying eyewitness accounts of the rave inside her head. She writes urban fantasy with strong romantic elements and also dabbles in erotica and horror on occasion.

Kendall lives off a dirt road near Atlanta, Georgia, but don't hold that against her.

  2. I'm not a fan of the ocean... Water in general really. So ocean dwelling creatures and such don't appeal to me as a reader. Lol

I've heard good things about this series, but I can't get past the setting. ;)

  6. I feel like I've heard a little about this series before, but it's great to see that you loved it so much, Amy! I can just see that you felt all the feels, and I love when a book is able to completely able to manipulate my emotions from one page to another. And this romance sounds deliciously complicated!! The characters also seem to be really deep and slightly flawed, which I always enjoy seeing.

Fantastic review, Amy, and the character interview was so good!! <3
