Book Girls Don't Cry (5) Annoying Characters!!

Welcome to another fabulous week of Book Girls!! This week our topic was Annoying Characters and oh man I could have gone on and on and on with this one!! But I didn't. I don't want all of you to die of boredom while I talk for hours about it. I do mention quite a few characters, but I go through it quickly... for me. I think I get annoyed too easily. I thought of a bunch of characters and then just randomly picked a few.

We will be posting as follows:
Jenni @ Alluring Reads - Mondays (YouTube Channel)
Giselle @ Xpresso Reads - Thursdays/Fridays (whichever works best) (YouTube Channel)
Amy (Me) @ Book Loving Mom - Saturdays (YouTube Channel)
This weeks posts from the other BGDC girls:
Annoying Characters
 Characters Mentioned in video
The chick from Undeadly by Michele Vail
Kate and Henry from Goddess Interrupted by Aimee Carter
Avery's mom from Wait for You by J. Lynn
Naomi's mom from The Breakaway & Pieces by Michelle Davidson Argyle
Astrid's mom from Ask the Passengers by A.S. King
Zoe from Glitch by Heather Anastasiu
Chloe and Brie from Welcome, Caller, This is Chloe by Shelley Coriell
Jessamine from The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Claire
(I have to note, that I actually really loved most of these books. It's just the character that I didn't like)

What characters annoy you? Do you think my list is ridiculous? Am I too easily annoyed do you think? Let me know in the comments. As always, we are looking for topic suggestions. Fill out the form in the Book Girls tab if you have any!

  1. Oh, you have some great choices!

Kate and Henry were definitely annoying, especially Kate.
Astrid's mom was horrid, and speaking of annoying parents, Amy's mom in Pretty Amy. She was a real peach.

And now I'm dreading meeting Avery's mom in Wait for You. lol

    1. The good thing is Avery's mom isn't a huge part of Wait for You, but she still pissed me off!! I loved that book so much!!

  2. Definitely Kate and Henry! I love Henry though, but the two together....annoying. I've read some pretty annoying female mc's lately. Why can't girls just be strong?

    1. I am so glad that you and Andrea agree with me about Kate and Henry. I loved them too, but OMG I wanted to smack them in book 2. I think I actually wrote that in my review haha!!

  3. Bahah "The chick from Undeadly" --what a freaking stupid person! God she was dumb "Oh instead of escaping this prison, let's go to the bathroom and stare into a mirror" *slaps her silly*

Oh I've heard about the Goddess Interrupted characters you're not the only one who didn't like them much haha.

OMG the parents! Parents are annoying SO often!!

I don't remember Naomi's mom but I read The Breakaway so long ago. I plan to read Pieces soon though.

I've heard SO Many awful things about Glitch I never read it haha. I think I'll hate it based on the reviews.

Ugh Chloe sounds like a bitch! I want her to die!

Omg you have much more than me! I had to scramble to find characters that annoyed me haha. I'm sure there are more than I have but just coudln't think of any.

Also, you have to update your tour banners----->
You have some from February, still, Amy! *twitch*

    1. Lol about the tour banners!! Says the girl who took moths to update her blog roll to new buttons. Besides, I keep the banners up until the tour is over, not just my stop. :)

  4. EEP...having problems with my sound on my computer and can't listen. :( BUT from your list below, I so agree with Jessamine! Oh I can't stand that girl. I'm sure that's on purpose but still I want to smack her.

    1. Ugh Jessamine drives me crazy!! I'm re-reading Clockwork Prince right now and that's why I thought of her.

  5. I haven't read most of those books but mostly because I heard from reviewers how annoying the characters were.
The character from Undeadly sure seems to be terrible. >.<

I read Wait for You yesterday and I completely agree about Avery's mom. She was such a terrible figure in her daughter's life. That woman totally deserves some major punching in the face. It also annoyed me how she never really saw the extent of her damage. Stupid woman!

Zoe from Glitch was terrible too. God, that girl was so stupid. I hated that book because of her. >.<

There are so many characters that annoy me. I think I'm annoyed easily by characters too often, like you.

I recently started Blaze and the MC in that one drove me nuts and I had to DNF the book. The characters from Of Poseidon were also really punch-worthy. I also hated Alice from Alice in Zombieland. She was such a frustrating character!
I could go on and on about characters that annoyed me to be honest!

    1. Yay!! I am so glad that I'm not the only one who seems to get annoyed easily with characters. OMG I DNF'd Alice in Zombieland. Of Poseidon the chick drove me nuts too, but I did actually enjoy the book enough to want to read the 2nd one. I have Blaze to read, but since they took forever (like 5 months) to approve it I probably won't read it. I don't have time for it now.

  6. The guy in Glitch annoyed me too -- the inappropriately pervy one. I don't mind as much if secondary characters are annoying, but if it's the main character, then the book gets put on the DNF pile.

    1. OMG yes!!! So horrible. I try to be patient with characters because a lot of the time they get better, but sometimes it's too much.

  7. Admittedly, I haven't read most of those books except for Clockwork Angel but Jessamine was totally super annoying in that.. Sometimes I wonder if the author MEANS for them to be that annoying or if they didn't intend for it and they just end up being uber annoying... lol

    1. I think that a lot of the time they are supposed to be annoying too, but there's a fine line between being annoying and just turning off a reader.

  8. I have gotten annoyed by plenty of characters but sometimes its not a negative, like they are suppose to piss you off (this is often the parents). But when the mc does absurdly ridiculous things I tend to dnf the book. But I guess there have been some cases where I liked the rest of the stuff enough to continue. Actually I have a review going up on Tuesday (I think its scheduled for Tues) where the mc truly posses me off.

    1. Parents tend to not turn me off of a book when they are annoying, especially in YA because how many of us didn't think our parents were annoying. (Sometimes it's way beyond that, but it's okay) I mostly have an issue with MC's when they drive me nuts because you can't get away from them short of putting the book aside.

  9. I totally didn't even think of that brat from Undeadly, I noticed both you and Giselle managed to think of that one. That's the thing with these posts, I do mine really early in the week and then I see comments and your guys' posts and I'm like CRAP! I can't watch the video right now because I have a brat sleeping on me but I just wanted to leave some love. I haven't read any of the other books on your list but a few are on my TBR!

    1. Haha!! I'm the opposite way. Since you and Giselle are first, sometimes (mainly discussion posts) I feel like I am just saying the same thing as both of you. Damn us for being so similar most of the time haha! At least with posts like this there are so many different books and a lot that not all of us has read.

  11. Henry and Kate sound excruciating as a couple. Yeesh. But I'm glad you love the books! The only book from your list that I've read is Glitch but OMG YES. She INFURIATED me. Good god! "I know you just tried to rape me, like, fifteen seconds ago, but we can still be friends, right? I know you have my best intentions at heart. Pleeeeease be my friend!" HE JUST TRIED TO RAPE YOU. GOOD GOD. UGH. I hate her. Haaaaaate her. And Chloe sounds like a character I'd want to punch.

    1. Henry and Kate drove me completely nuts in the second book! It was still good, but OMG I wanted to hit things. ANd the chick from Glitch!!! WTF was wrong with her?!! Totally stupid!! Chloe was very annoying. I wanted to steal all of her vintage shoes and tell her that she wasn't that funny and it takes more than that for people to like you. Being self centered is not the way to do it!

  12. GACK! I forgot to comment yesterday! I was like watching it and going "OMG YES!" and "THANK GOD I DIDN'T READ THAT BOOK!"

But apparently I didn't get to comment *facepalm*

ANYWAY. YES TO KATE AND HENRY! They were like so annoying and I was seriously going, "KATE DIE!" throughout most of the book even though I ended up really loving it O_O And I was REALLY close to reading Undeadly and Glitch, but I ended up not so thank goodness because you sounded so pissed off about them!

I haven't read Jennifer's new adult book, BUT HOW ANNOYING ARE FICTIONAL MOMS SOMETIMES? They seriously make me go "AHHH IT'S NOT POSSIBLE FOR A MOTHER TO BE THAT ANNOYING." Even in real life. Merp.

    Awesome list!

    1. Haha!! Yes, fictional parents can be the worst!! Don't waste your time on Glitch or Undeadly. You will want to throw yourself out a window.

  13. Zoe from Glitch. HELL YES. I hated her SO MUCH. She freaking kept hanging out with her attempted rapist. No, bitch, no. Like, yeah, don't victim blame, but, seriously, if someone's meant to you, don't spend time with them. GET AWAY. She was so freaking stupid. TSTL.

  14. Hmm, you know which character annoys me, the Zoe from The House of Night series. I the beginning she was cool putting the mean girls in their place and then she became one. UGH!

  15. Hmm I hated Ever from The Immortals series by Alyon Noel. Mostly I just hated that whole series. I also hate popular characters mostly. I HATE Will Herondale, Christian Prescott, and Zach Moore. My nemesis. lol But otherwise I can't really think of many? I think those three are my big ones.
