2013 Belongs To Dante!! Playlist for the Collector by Victoria Scott

Hi guys!! I loved The Collector and am so excited to be taking part in the 2013 Belongs to Dante event! You can see my review for The Collector by clicking here. For my stop on this awesome tour/event I have a playlist of songs that reminded me of the book. For certain songs it was an overall feel of it that made me think of a character and how they might be feeling at a certain time and others were specific to an event or situation in the book. I used a lot of videos with lyrics since it's the lyrics that remind me of things in the book. If you have read the book, let me know what you think of my playlist. (I actually cut it way down. I had like 20+ songs) If you haven't read it yet, does my playlist make you curious? There are so many great stops for this event so be sure to check out the schedule by clicking on the banner above!

The Collector (Dante Walker #1)
From Entangled Teen
Release Date: April 2nd, 2013
400 pages
Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence has made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple, weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big, red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.

Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal opportunity collector and doesn’t want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:

Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within 10 days.

Dante doesn’t know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky, Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect—he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector, and uncover emotions deeply buried.

I think this is self explanatory

The lyrics of this song just really fit some of the book I think.

I think that this is how Dante feels at one point. It's a long way getting there though.

This song just makes me think of Charlie. She's really a strong girl. She might not be perfect, but she is happy with herself.

This one makes me think of Dante towards the end of the book.

This is another one that I think is a good fit for Dante when he finally sees Charlie for who she is.

I'm all about the songs that are so Dante when he finally sees the real Charlie.

This is a good fit for when Charlie discovers what Dante was up to.

This one isn't literal to anything, but I feel like this kind of goes with it a little. I think Dante might feel a little like this.

I think this is a great song for a certain part of the book too.

    Lindy@ A Bookish Escape

    1. Thanks!! I originally had over 20 songs, but decided to cut it way down.

  2. Haha to the first song! It's so fitting to this book! :P
    Great playlist, Amy! :)

    1. I totally had to put that song as my opener for the playlist! When I first saw the tagline one the book that song kept popping into my head lol!!

  3. That Cobra Starship song sums Dante up pretty well. ;) Great playlist, Amy! I read this a few weeks ago and agree with your song choices. :) I wonder if Dante will be anywhere near as cocky in The Liberator... I can't wait to find out! :)

    1. This was such a fun playlist to come up with. I had to be sure to put in the sweeter ones to for those times when you really get into Dante's head and see his sweet side. :) Wanted was my favorite pick for him!

  4. I used to love that Cobra Starship song. And now it will be stuck in my head all damn day! Thanks for that! I haven't read this one yet and I'm not too sure how I would feel about Dante, but you picked some great songs! Thanks for sharing darlin'!

    1. Haha!! That Cobra Starship song would pop into my head every time I saw the book cover!! I couldn't help it, I had to include it.

  5. Awesome playlist! I <3 Kelly Clarkson! I was so confused for this tour i didn't know we had to do our own post kinda deal. lol

    1. For those of us who already reviewed the book it was a do your own thing type of post, but for everyone else it was a review stop I think. I reviewed it over a month ago, so I did the playlist instead. :)

  6. I love this book sooooo hard! I can not wait for the next book.

    1. I know! Me too. So glad it's not a year wait. August isn't too far away!

  7. I love that Bruno Mars video! This is a great group of songs! I especially think that first one is perfect!

  8. Okay, I am going to try these songs, which are probably really popular. We'll see how this goes.

I think I've heard this Cobra Starship song... Leighton Meester sings? WHAT?

Why is Kelly Clarkson blonde? That is NOT a good look for her. O_o

Iris is the best. One of the most touching songs.

Aww, I like the Bruno Mars song, even if it's overly sweet. lol.

So this is One Direction, huh?

I can no longer listen to In the Arms of the Angel without picturing sad puppies and kittens.

    1. Omg yes, Leighton Meester sings!!

I thought that that was a weird look for Kelly Clarkson too.

I love Iris. Such an amazing song!! Every time I hear it I want to watch City of Angels.

      Yes, I love Bruno Mars.

Yup, that's One Direction. I'm not ashamed lol!!

OMG the ASPCA commercials kill me!! I cry every freaking time. That song makes me cry too!!

    2. City of Angels was the worrrrsssst. I laughed so hard at that ending, because I am a terrible, snarky person.

    3. Haha!! It was pretty bad. I haven't watched it in forever though, and that song just makes me think of that movie. I laughed at the end too. It was so predictable that it would happen.

  9. Ooo girl, you have so many awesome songs on this list, so eclectic!(: And you so totally sold me at One Direction, lmao, no joke!

    1. I'm glad you approve since you totally rock with playlists and such things. I do have quite a wide variety there don't I? Lol!! You should have seen it before I cut it down haha!! Dude, I like One Direction and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Almost 31 and I totally listen to them all the time!!

  10. Fun post! I used to listen to "Good Girls Go Bad" ALL. THE. TIME.
    Great song.
    Thanks for sharing!

  11. I swear everyone has read this book BUT me *pouts lip* I'm just going to buy this now with all the smashing reviews it's getting. Oh and awesome playlist! Even though I haven't read the book, great selection of songs- seems to fit with the synopsis :D

  12. What a fun post :)
Iris is one of my most favorite songs of all time. Ever!

  13. OMG Catch My Breath is such a catchy song! I haven't read The Collector, but these songs definitely seem like they would fit really well! From all of the positive reviews, I need to pick up The Collector soon!
