Book Girls Don't Cry... Until They Do!

Hello my fabulous readers!! This weeks topic was actually a bit hard for me because I tend to be a sensitive and more often than not, overly emotional reader. The topic of choice was Books That Made Us Emotional suggested by Kathy from I Write, I Read, I Review. Being that I am super emotional most of the time, I picked books that made me almost have a breakdown. I mean the sobbing, ugly cry!

Other Book Girls Posts This Week

On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves

(I used the original cover before her book got picked up by a publisher since that's the one I reviewed.)

OMG guys!! Seriously, this isn't even a book I would have thought about reading, but one of my blogger friends told me about the tour that was going to be set up for it and I was like, "Yeah, sure. I need to step out of my box once in a while." and I am so glad I did. This book was beautiful, and super emotional! It actually is one of my all time favorite reads. Pretty impressive for something that was out of my comfort zone at the time. Now I'm a total sucker for books like this!!

The Edge of Never by J.A Redmerski

This book was so amazing!! It was touching, and emotional on every level. I definitely did the ugly cry with this one. If you are a fan of contemporary or new adult (or both!) You need this book. It's definitely not for younger readers as there is some steamy scenes, but this is a book that will suck you in and have you emotionally invested and tear your heart out right along with the characters!!

Flawed by Kate Avelynn

This book will absolutely shatter you. It was very difficult to read, but it was tragically beautiful. I can't even explain to you the love I have for this book. One of the best books I have ever read. I may have curled up in the corner and bawled my eyes out for hours, but it was so worth it. I had puffy red eyes for hours the next day from all the crying I did. Very dark, very emotional, very amazing!!

My Review

Clockwork Princess (Infernal Devices #3) by Cassandra Clare

I knew that this would be one of those books that made me cry, I just didn't realize how much! I am glad that I listened to the audiobook of this because I wouldn't have been able to see the words on the pages for half of the book if I didn't. This was very intense on my emotions and I had to stop every 2 or 3 hours to compose myself. It was a hard book to read, but that is because of how invested I was in the story and the characters. I think I cried off and on for about half of this book. It was brutal, but awesome!!

My Review

The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa

Yes this made me cry! I became very attached to the characters and cared what happened to them, so when things do go well, it makes me sad. Especially the way this was written. OMG I was a sobbing mess. Funny since I was outside and my neighbor came home while I was crying. She saw my kindle in my had though and knew why. She's used to seeing me cry over books lol!!

(I haven't written my review yet, but will link when it's up.)

Siege (ATWD #3) by Rhiannon Frater

(I used this cover since it's the one I reviewed.)

This series was amazing!! There is a large cast of characters and I really loved them all. I loved getting to know them, I felt like I was part of their group. I wanted so badly for them all to survive. We know that that doesn't happen in a zombie apocalypse though. Every time that one of them was lost was like a stab in the chest. Some way worse than others. I pretty much lost it while reading this one and needed consoling from Giselle @ Xpresso Reads. I seriously felt like I was losing friends to the zombies and I hurt from it.

My Review

There are many, many more books that have made me cry. Half of the books I have read this year have probably made me cry. These ones were the first that came to mind when I thought of this topic and are among my favorite books I have read! What books have made you cry? What do you think of my picks?! Let me know, and as always feel free to leave topic suggestions for us!

  1. I've been trying to think of what book made me cry. On the Island probably made me cry some and so did Clockwork Princess. Oh, it was Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys that REALLY made me cry. I know there are others but I'm not thinking of them just now. Most books make me cry at least a little. ;)

  3. I love crying when I read a book, there's something about it that makes me love it. Clockwork Princess was such a tear jerker! I'd add The Book Thief and The Help to that list as they had me in a sobbing mess.

    Love your picks, Amy! <33

  7. I'm an emotional person in general, but it's weird because I don't normally cry a lot when reading books. I do love emotional books though. I want to read Flawed so much.

I remember crying a bit when reading My Sister's Keeper and The Lovely Bones in high school; near the end for both I think.

  9. Oh yes Clockwork Princess! I took a picture of my pile of tissues even. I was like sobbing hideously for my Jem. Was crying at the end of The Edge of Never. The Eternity Cure was also sad at the end. Won't be reading Flawed because I heard about that sad ending as well. I also cried at Delirium, Before I Fall, Harry Potter, The Time Traveler's Wife, Shade and Shift, Every Day and many more since I am also a really emotional reader. I tear up at every book!
