For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

My Thoughts

I absolutely loved this book. It was sweet, sexy, funny, and everything that I could want out of a New Adult contemporary. It had a fabulous story, the characters were amazing, and I was totally drawn in!! I am always a sucker for friends to lovers stories and this one hit the mark!! Told through alternating POV's I think that this was done spectacularly and I found it hard to put down.

Sydney is a character that though very different from me, I found she was very easy to connect to. I was able to get right into her head and feel her emotions with her. I loved watching her come out of her shell. In the beginning she is so afraid to just let go and do something spontaneous, then when she tries it doesn't always go the way she thinks it will.  I really loved her character. She is so intent on keeping her friendship with Kyler that she is afraid to do anything to ruin it. I can totally understand that. They bicker, but are awesome friends... best friends.

Kyler was a bit harder for me to like. Okay, so he was swoon worthy pretty much right off, but he was still a jerk. He is a total man whore and has girls crawling out of the woodwork to get a piece of that, but yet if Sydney even so much as talks to another guy, he gets all pissy and the guy is obviously a tool in his mind. Yes, it's sweet that he is jealous, but it's like he thinks he can do every girl on the planet, but Sydney can't even look at a guy. Yet, he won't tell her how he feels about her for certain reasons, but still. Once I started to get to know him a little better I definitely started to love him. I thought that he was sweet and charming, but still an arrogant ass at times. He could not have been any more perfect for Sydney though. He is loyal to their friendship and fiercely protective of her. He is a great best friend, and no one could be better for her.

Oh the sexiness!! Holy Hell are there some scenes that could almost make the book go up in flames. JLA sure knows how to make those pages steamy! Okay, so besides the steam, the romance is really great too. There are plenty of "awww" inducing moments, some moments that had me laughing, and then the ones where I though a cold shower could do me some good. I love that the romance stemmed from a friendship and it's believable that they would be in love with each other. There is no insta-love or fast romance. This has been building for practically their entire lives. You could feel the connection and the chemistry between them. You know how they met. You know how they have grown up close to each other. You get their history, so you believe the romance.

So, the story! What better was to finally get their feelings out there then being snowed in by a massive blizzard? Well, it's not really that easy. There were plenty of issues that got in their way. Some funny, some scary, some just plain old frustrating. The worst part is, they aren't just snowed in, but someone is apparently out to get them too. So besides it being freezing and having to use a backup generator for a little bit of power, now they have to fear that someone is going to harm them. Well, Kyler is just mostly scared for Syd. It makes for a great addition to the story and how it all comes out in the end had me with my heart beating out of my chest.

This was beyond amazing. I went through so many emotions back and forth through this book that I was mentally exhausted, but so satisfied when I was done!! I was expecting an awesome book, but what I got was off the charts incredible!! My love for JLA's books grows with each one I read. I already want to go back and read this one again and again. This is a friends to lovers story at it's best!! I would give it a million stars if I could!

Each blog stop has a question that will be answered on the next days blog. So today, I have the answer to the question that was asked on Friday's stop.

You don't really do relationships. Ever have a girl try very hard to change your mind about that? How did that go for ya?

I've always tried to be very honest with girls when I'm, uh, spending time with them. I've never wanted to jerk anyone around or lead them on. There have been a few girls who wanted more from me than I was willing to give them, but I've just explained that relationships aren't for me. This may have resulted in some items being thrown at me including a small lamp shaped like a flower, a red stiletto, and a tube of toothpaste. Oh, and once a can of whipped cream. I probably shouldn't explain that one. There's also been some crying a time or two, but I usually get out of there unscathed because I'm just so damn charming.

Now, for Kyler's question that will be answered on tomorrow's stop!!
Tell us about a favorite childhood memory that involves Sydney.

Question 5 will be answered on Readers Live a Thousand Lives on 7/16

  1. Great review, Amy! I love it when you fangirl over J.L.A's books! :)
This sounds like it's a great NA book. I love the sound of Sydney. She sounds like she's a sweet girl. I have to admit though, I don't like the sound of Kyler! He seems like he's a jerk. It's sort of frustrating that he pushes all guys who get close to Syndey while he's warming his bed with a swarm of women! Still though, I'll be sure to check it out since J.LA does romance really well!

    1. I loved the story!! I did end up loving Kyler. Once you get to know him he's not too bad. Even he knows that he's been an asshole the whole time. He really is a sweet guy underneath. And of course JLA knows how to bring the sexy!! Whoa! It was off the charts! I loved the added danger that was in the story too. It added the right amount of tension and suspense that wasn't sexual lol!!

  2. Thanks for the post! I am looking forward to reading Kyler's story on why he doesn't think he is good enough for Sydney when he seems so charming, loyal and protective. I also love a friends to lovers book told in both pov's. Thanks for the chance to win!

  3. Hahaha. I'm actually glad you didn't love Kyler right off the bat. He seems like a jerk, but a loveable jerk lol. Every girl usually swoons over JLA's boys hard, but I'm glad he needed to allure you in more than with his sexy looks and attitude. I can't wait to read this! And I also can't wait for tomorrow's trailer reveal. Yay! Lovely, lovely review hon!

  4. I haven't read any of her NA books yet, but it sounds like I need to! So I don't know how I would feel about the lead dude, but sounds like the chemistry is good and sometimes that makes up for everything else. Great review!

  7. Sounds like a fun book. And it sounds, character-wise, a lot like Wait For You. Is it? Sydney sounds sweet, but I have to admit that guys like Kyler are getting to me. I'm glad you liked him, though, and trust when you say he's a good guy.
    Great review, Amy!

  9. I loved how protective he was of Syd, and that he was the only guy who got to call her that.

  10. Ooh I am all about the secxy scene, but I think I am kind of over the asshole guy. It takes a special kind of guy for me to fall for him when he has the temper these days, but I think Armentrout could pull that off if anyone. I really need to read one of her New Adult books. I've lost interest in the Lux series so I think it's time to move onto her J. Lynn books!

  11. This sounds great! I'm not always on board with the jerk'ish type guy, but sometimes they work for me if we see some major growth in them and they aren't always flipping back to being a jerk. I'm definitely curious about Kyler though!

  15. Huh, your thoughts about Kyler are pretty interesting and its weird that I didn't see it that way when IRL I would be so pissed at a guy like that, lol. I still can't help but love him though. Great review hun!

  17. I am obsessed with friends turned romance! My favorite! That is why I have been looking forward to this one so much. I also love different POVs and seeing both sides to the romance. J. Lynn does write great smexy scenes! Although Kyler sounds like most of her love interesting. Cocky and kind of a jerk but then you fall for them.

  19. I started reading Frigid yesterday and I am loving it. I agree with you - at first I found Kyler a little harder to like than Sydney, but I am definitely coming around!

  20. From the sounds of it, Kyler would have to be a pretty amazing guy to make up for the whole man-whore thing...that is a huge turn-off for me. I don't care what his excuse is. I guess I'll find out if he wins me over when I read it :)

  23. I'm glad you loved it, girl! I know you're a huge Armentrout fangirl, so I'm happy she didn't disappoint you. However, you've also saved me, because there is no way that this is my thing. Sometimes that's how it goes. Thanks for the informative review!
