Episode 9:
Vanora has suffered yet another loss. The darkness that haunts her premonition dreams draws ever nearer, but she is unwilling to let it consume her without a fight. As she seeks to uncover the truth about the mysterious albino vampire and her purpose in his schemes, she must rely on herself and those she trusts most to stand against the coming purge.

Serial Synopsis:

In Darkness We Must Abide is the epic saga of one young woman caught in the dangerous world of the creatures of the night.

Already living in the shadows due to her albinism, Vanora is just a little girl when her older brother inadvertently unleashes a terrible evil from the family crypt that changes their lives forever.

As she grows up in a world where beautiful deadly beings hunt by night, one captures her eye and her heart. Yet, can she trust the mysterious Armando? For there is a powerful entity plotting to claim her when she reaches adulthood in order to fulfill an ancient prophecy, and her enemy has enveloped her in a web of deceit, casting doubt on all she believes to be true. Soon, she will have to fight not only to save those she loves, but also for her very soul.

Rhiannon Frater delivers a chilling adventure once again with this multi-part epic serial with a dynamic cast, old school vampires, bloody action, a smoldering forbidden love, and a terrifying villain set against the backdrop of a modern day vampire war.

My Thoughts

Okay, now we are very far into this serial and it's really getting hard to review without giving anything away. I will try my best. This one was not as fast paced as some of the others, but I really loved where the story went. We get to really feel the characters more, and meet a new one who is both vile and entertaining all at once. I thought that the characters and their relationships was a very important thing to touch on more, and this was done very well. It felt natural and it worked great for where they are in the story at this point.

Vanora is still strong as ever, and if anything, in this she steps it up even further. I didn't think she could possibly be more of an awesome person, but she proved me wrong. She finally knows what she wants and she's done running. She knows that no matter what, she will be found. It wasn't giving up. In fact it was the opposite. She is ready to face things head on and is done holding back.

Oh yes, the romance!! It's about friggin' time. I mean, we all know that her and Armando are totally in love with each other, so I am glad that they admit they aren't over each other. Of course things are not easy for them, and never will be, but I am glad that they are finally being honest. That's all I can say on that!

This serial has been seriously rocking my freaking world. I love the story, I love the characters, and I love how creative Rhiannon Frater is with things. The origin of how the vampires came to be was really awesome! As you already know if you have been reading my reviews, I am so invested in this story and it's like an addiction. I swear I go through withdrawals waiting for the next episode. The best thing is, since they are short, I can easily fit them into my reading schedule. I am craving the next episode so badly!!

  1. I'm so glad that this serial is still going so strongly for you, Amy. It seems like everything from the characters to the romance was amplified. How long are these serials? I might give them a shot if they are short!
    Lovely review, Amy! :)

  5. I just finished episode 8 a few days ago...I am hooked on these too, but I'm wondering how long it's going to go on! I'm such a slow reader and I always feel behind, and I could see this having like 30 episodes...oh well!
