“Find Me.”

These are the words written on Tessa Waye’s diary. The diary that ends up with Wick Tate. But Tessa’s just been found . . . dead.

Wick has the right computer-hacking skills for the job, but little interest in this perverse game of hide-and-seek. Until her sister Lily is the next target.

Then Griff, trailer-park boy next door and fellow hacker, shows up, intent on helping Wick. Is a happy ending possible with the threat of Wick’s deadbeat dad returning, the detective hunting him sniffing around Wick instead, and a killer taunting her at every step?

Foster child. Daughter of a felon. Loner hacker girl. Wick has a bad attitude and sarcasm to spare.

But she’s going to find this killer no matter what.

Because it just got personal.

Author Interview

This is your first book. How excited are you for it to be out in the world?
Hugely excited!! And terrified!! And EXCITED!! And nervous!! And…yes, I’m shutting up right now.
When did you first start writing?

Second grade, I think? I wrote about a witch. For anyone who knows me, this is unsurprising.

I'm a huge fan of mystery/thriller books. What made you want to write this type of novel?
Yay for thrillers!! I read a ton of Lisa Gardner, Harlan Coben, and Dennis LeHane, but it wasn’t until I stumbled across Josin McQuein’s query for PREMEDITATED that I was all “Hang on a second here, peaches. Let’s take a look at this.”Then, after admiring the awesomeness that is Josin, I decided I wanted in. Fast forward a few days (and, let’s be honest, after a lot of wandering around and eating frosting straight from the tub), I came up with Wicket Tate, teenage hacker.
How did you come up with the idea for this book?
Oh, oops. I kinda already answered that one. Apologies. I do that a lot. Major issues with blurting and rambling and...wait. Where were we? Oh, ideas. I had this idea of a girl hacker trying to work while a scary cop circled her house. It may have been induced by all the frosting I was eating at the time. Something that messed up is either a product of too much sugar or too much artificial food coloring.

The main character Wick is pretty great with computers. Are you really good with computers too?
Hahahahaha!! Somewhere my husband just got the urge to punch something and has no idea why! Ahem. No, sadly, I am dreadful with computers. I have recently discovered Twitter and I heart it SO MUCH. I know. I know. I’m running about five years behind the rest of the world.
What types of research did you have to do for this book?
Lots of Googling and lots of pestering my far more computer-savvy husband. I recently talked Ashley at Nose Graze into answering my technical questions. Fingers crossed we’ll catch anything that would annoy readers. I live in fear of getting details wrong.
Who are some authors that have inspired you?
Oh wow! I could do an entire post on this one! I think of myself as a reader first and a writer second. I have serious fangirl crushes on so many authors: Jay Asher, John Green, Courtney Summers, Suzanne Collins, Megan Shepherd, Natalie Richards, Cecily White…yeah, basically, there’s a whole slew of writers I should never ever be allowed to be around because I’m not sure I can control myself.
What are you working on right now? Are you allowed to say?
Working on REMEMBER ME, FIND ME’s sequel!
Do you have any writing routines or habits?

Get up. Get tea. Glare at computer. Get more tea. Open computer. Re-read yesterday’s words. Feel sick. Get more tea. Feel better. Write stuff. Delete stuff. Check GoodReads. Have panic attack. Get more tea. Eat crackers and hardboiled egg over trash can so I don’t have to do dishes. Write more stuff. Answer emails. Editor wants to know how book is doing. Lie and tell editor everything is fine, no worries because book is great. Send email. Have another panic attack. Write more stuff. Self-medicate with Twitter and frosting. Go to bed. Repeat.

Random
Coffee or Tea?
Tea!
Oceans or Mountains?
 Ocean!
Cake or Pie?
  Cake!
Sweet or Salty?
  Both!
Zombies or Unicorns?

Hmmm. I love horses so I’m inclined to say unicorns, but I think zombies could be fun too. Think of the stress relief. You’re having a bad day so you grab your trusty baseball bat, go outside, and swat a few heads off. It could be great…so, yes, zombies. I think.

Want to say a HUGE HUGE THANK YOU to Amy at Book Loving Mom for having me! I hope you enjoyed the post and I hope you enjoy FIND ME!

What a fun interview! Isn't she great?

 Author Bio

Since then, I’ve worked as a riding instructor, cell phone salesgirl, personal assistant, groom, exercise rider, accounting assistant, and, during a very dark time, customer service rep.So don’t let anyone tell you a BA degree will keep you unemployed.

  8. I didn't love this one as much as I wanted to bc I guessed who the culprit was super early but I know lots of people who maybe haven't read as many mysteries as I have would likely enjoy it a lot more it was a pretty decent read otherwise.

  9. I've only recently got into thrillers and I think it's because I like YA thrillers but adult ones don't always work for me. Or I just don't have the patience to stick with them and they have so many details I get confused.
I really like this interview cause I feel like we really got to know the author and her personality, I like that! I look forward to reading this one one of these days.
