SOMETIMES LOVE IS A MATTER

Sierra Brennan can inherit her great-uncle’s historic Chicago townhouse under one condition: She must live there for thirty consecutive days. What could possibly go wrong? As a writer and a ghost whisperer, Sierra has a vast imagination and a brave spirit. But not even she is prepared for the gorgeous—and naked—vampire who greets her at the door.

OF LIFE AND UN-DEATH

Ronan McCoy has spent the past century waiting to come home…to this house. The presence of the beautiful, brazen Sierra is one complication he doesn’t expect. The other is Hal, a dangerous ghost and original member of Al Capone’s gang who’s dead-set on revenge. What is a formerly indentured vampire supposed to do to get a moment’s peace? All he knows for sure is that he must protect Sierra from Hal. But once he has her in his arms, can he ever let her go? Life—and love—is becoming stranger than fiction for Sierra…and more delicious than she and Ronan could have ever imagined... in Love Your Entity.

My Thoughts

This is part of a series, but it's more of a companion novel so you don't need to read the previous books to enjoy this. I had actually never heard of this series before I got an email saying this book was headed my way, but I am happy to say that I liked it. I am actually now going to go back and read the previous books and novella when I get a chance. It's a mix of humor, action, sexiness, and danger. I really enjoyed it.

Sierra has inherited a house from her great uncle and the only stipulation is that she needs to reside in the house for 30 days in order to actually have it become hers. None of the people before her have been able to accomplish it, but being someone who can see and communicate with ghosts, and an author who writes paranormal novels, she doesn't scare easy. I liked her fiesty personality. She is tough and doesn't take crap from anybody, living or dead. It's not like she's totally fearless, but she is pretty freaking close. She is also a very determined woman. She refuses to give in easy to the complications that arise. Though, when things get a bit out of control, she is willing to run, but with the help and guidance of others around her, she decides to stay and do what she needs to do. She is also not easily willing to believe in other supernatural beings such as vampires, witches, and demons. Until she is faced with them and has to believe. I really liked her. She is very guarded, but that's due to her past, and it makes her who she is.

Ronan was really fun and infuriating. He also happens to be a super sexy vampire who was naked when Sierra arrived at the house. He claims that the house is his. His family owned it long before hers did and he says that vampire law makes it his. He is also on a mission from his master in order to keep his freedom. He has to hide this fact since he was indentured to his master for almost 100 years. He knows that if the town knew that he wasn't totally free he wouldn't be allowed to be part of them. His one goal is to save his sister no matter the cost. He is one stubborn guy, but also charming and hilarious at times. He is also very caring and we see that softer, gentler side of him quite often.

The romance was really good. There was obviously instant attraction, but both Ronan and Sierra are ridiculously stubborn and they really butt heads for a while. They have a very hot and cold thing going on at first, but slowly begin to give into their growing feelings. Even when they do start to give in, they still don't jump into being with each other though. There is far too much other things going on with angry ghosts, deceiving vampires, and just danger in general. Ronan is very protective of Sierra. It's very sweet actually, even when he is acting like a jerk. It's all for a reason.

The town is cleverly dubbed Vamp Town since pretty much everyone in the town is a vampire. You have to have permission to be there and their identity is supposed to be kept hidden. The last thing they want in the town is trouble, and they are sure to get it with a vampire master and angry demons and ghosts all out for revenge or power. There is plenty of action in this to keep you turning the pages. The chemistry between the characters is great, and the secondary characters were all really awesome to get to know. I can't wait to go back and read about them in the other books in this series! A fantastic romance, danger and mystery, and an overall fun read. I recommend this to lovers of paranormal romance.

  1. a character with a feisty personality like Sierra is always a good thing. The scene where Ronan and Sierra first meet sounds really hot and I'm glad that you enjoyed the romance. Even if it had an insta-attraction, I'm glad that it sort of built up to a more serious relationship. Fantastic review, Amy! <33

  2. Interesting. I've gotten out of the habit of reading vampire books. Not sure why. There's just so many good books out there. Glad this one was good for you.

  4. I have not read any paranormal books in a while. Mostly contemporary or sci-fi. Awesome review.
