In this heartrending conclusion to the Everneath trilogy, Nikki and Jack must set out to destroy the Everneath this time, for good.

Now that Nikki has rescued Jack, all she wants is to be with him and graduate high school. But Cole tricked Nikki into feeding off him, and she s begun the process of turning into an Everliving herself which means she must feed on a Forfeit soon or die.

Terrified for her survival, Nikki and Jack begin a desperate attempt to reverse the process using any means possible. Even Cole, who they expected to fight them at every turn, has become an unlikely ally but how long can it last? She needs to feed on Cole to survive, Cole needs her to gain the throne in the Everneath, Jack needs Nikki because she is everything to him and together, they must travel back to the Underworld to undo Nikki s fate and make her mortal once more. But Cole isn t the only one with plans for her: the queen has not forgotten Nikki s treachery, and she wants her destroyed for good. Will Nikki be forced to spend eternity in the Underworld, or does she have what it takes to bring down the Everneath once and for all?

In this stunning conclusion to the Everneath trilogy, Brodi Ashton evokes the resiliency of the human spirit and the indomitable power of true love.

My Thoughts

I have loved this series since right when I started the first book and this final installment didn't disappoint. I thought where the story went and how the characters grew and changed was perfect! Listening to this on audio definitely enhanced my enjoyment of the book, but I would have loved it anyways. I actually have a hardcover copy of it because I just had to have it! The adventure, the mythology, the relationships, and emotions were all so amazingly done! I am so sad to have this series come to an end, but also really exciting to see what Brodi Ashton gives us next!!

Nikki is having a really hard time being back from the Everneath. She is so happy to have Jack back, but now faces her impending future of either death, or becoming the Queen of the Everneath. Obviously, she doesn't really want either, but above all she doesn't want to hurt anyone by making them a forfeit and feeding. She is dependent on Cole to survive until she either chooses a forfeit or she destroys the Everneath, and taking the whole place down is her ultimate goal. She has so much hate for Cole, but she also was able to see other sides of him that made her question her hatred. She is such a good person down to her soul and it has always been a reason I enjoyed her character so much. She is brave and selfless, and only wants to save innocent people who don't deserve the wrath of the Everneath. Yes, of course she wants to live, but not at the expense of even one other life that she could save.

Jack is good for Nikki, and OMG the sweet things that would come out of his mouth sometimes. I seriously was turning to a puddle of goo listening to this. The thing that makes it even more heart melting is that he is totally sincere about it. It's not like he's just using a line. The audio really puts that extra emotion into it all. What did irritate me about him was that he was constantly acting like Nikki couldn't do things on her own. I know that he was just terrified for her, but I would have liked to see more of him having the faith and courage in her that he should. He does at times, but there's too much babying her. And he has a wicked jealous streak in this also. It was not very charming at all and I wanted to tell him to stop being such a tool.  It's so apparent how much he loves her though, and it's really sweet. He will do anything for her and he does.

The romance was something I loved. It's always there, but doesn't take over. Yes, there are some parts that are focused just on their thoughts and what they are doing, but it all goes with the story as a whole. The story wouldn't have the impact it does without really feeling what Jack and Nikki have. They have been through a lot. They are going through even more, but they know that their love for each other is a constant. It's something that they know for a fact and don't have to question it. No matter what they face or what they have been through, they will always be there for each other.

This audio was awesome. I have had really good luck with audiobooks lately where it makes me love a book so much more that if I had read it myself. I know that I would have loved this book either way, but the audio was filled with the emotion behind the words. The fear, the love, the urgency, it was all there through the voice of the narrator. She brought it all to life.

This book has us on the surface, and back in the Everneath. It has a lot of action and adventure and kept me engaged the whole time. I loved how it all ended. It wasn't without tears, but it was worth it. I kind of thought that it was going to end the way it did, but it still was enjoyable every single word of the way! This series as a whole was amazing, and this was such an awesome final book to the trilogy. This is definitely a series that I would recommend to pretty much everyone!
